About the Program My San Luis Obispo is a hospitality training program aimed at making
San Luis Obispo the premier destination in hospitality service. This program is designed to educate, train and support the employees working in San Luis Obispo's hospitality related businesses so that they have the tools to deliver the best experience possible to our visitors. The hospitality industry consists of a broad section of fields within the service industry including lodging, restaurants, event planning, transportation, activities, and other fields within the tourism industry. |
|
For the Employee:
The My San Luis Obispo hospitality training program is designed to help employees better succeed in their job. Hospitality employees throughout San Luis Obispo County will better serve visiting clients by using the skills, knowledge and resources provided in this program. Employees will learn new skills that will help them manage difficult situations – everything from taking care of disgruntled guests to helping visitors who may run into problems with the homeless community. Local hospitality workers will have the resources they need to learn more about the community where they live and work. They will gain knowledge about the area and learn where to find the information and answers to SLO related questions. My San Luis Obispo also provides each graduate of the program with a Certificate of Achievement, which is ideal for resume-building as young workers embark on a career in the hospitality industry. |
|
For the Employer:
The program inspires workers to be better employees for local companies and gives them the tools to take ownership and pride in the work they do and to enjoy the community they call home. This program provides employees with the skills and knowledge to make a difference in their everyday job performance. My San Luis Obispo also continuously stays in contact with graduates and current class members, informing them about city news and events, making them better informed employees. We want them to leave the program understanding that they are a vital part of the hospitality community of San Luis Obispo and each one of them can make a difference. |
